In May, our ‘Ashesi Sessions’, were run in collaboration with Ashesi University College, Ghana. The themes introduced under ‘Designing for New Realities’ focused on emerging digital crafts in the fields of DIY robotics, interaction design and intergalactic space design on the African continent. The event included exciting speakers such as Ashitey Trebi-Ollennu (NASA, Mars Mission Lead Engineer), Ayorkor Korsah (Founder, African Robotics Network), Solomon King Benge (Founder, Ugandan Fundi Bots), Sénamé Koffi Agbodjinou (Founder, Togo Woelab), Dela A. Kumahor (Founder Colbalt Partners Accra), Yaw DK Osseo-Asare (Founder, Low Design Office), Francis Koroko (Photographer, ‘Ghana’s Millennial Avant-garde’), Jorge Appiah (Founder, Creativity Group Kumasi), Christian Benimana (Programmes Manager, Mass Design Group Rwanda).

The room was brimming with ideas and provocations from over 240 professors and students from across 7 different Ghanaian universities and colleges, as well as professional representatives from Architects Without Borders, Chale Wote Arts and Joy News TV Channel amongst others.
